History of the Mile

The Cambridge Classic Mile is a tribute to one of the most iconic moments in sporting history.

The four minute mile is still a benchmark for many runners.

On the clay track at Galt Collegiate it still requires an Olympic effort to eclipse the standard set by Sir Roger Bannister in 1954.

The first Cambridge Classic Mile was held in 2004, as a tribute to the 50th anniversary of Bannister’s run.

Whether you run the mile in four minutes or eight minutes it is still a four lap journey that will leave a memorable impression.
